number, anything that pertains
to the Bible and it will find it for you. If you

In 1993, Carlton Brady, owner and
bass singer for the Singing
Ambassadors, purchased a tract of
land just north of Fayetteville,
Tennessee, and soon afterward, began
what would become of the premier
annual Gospel singing events in the
North Alabama, Southern Tennessee
area. The first annual singing
was held in July of 1996, and during
the 15 years to follow, has featured
some of Southern Gospels finest and
most well-known groups. Gold
City, J.D. Sumner and the Stamps,
The McKameys, The Hoppers, The
Florida Boys, and Doyle Lawson and
Quicksilver are just a few examples
of who has participated in this
event. In 2011, the 16th
annual edition of the Shadow Valley
singing will be held from Thursday
June 30th, thru Saturday, July 2nd,
beginning at 7 pm each evening.
The group Alliance is honored to be
participating at Shadow Valley for
the 2nd consecutive year, and we
will be performing on Saturday night
July 2nd. Advance tickets can
be purchased for $12 each, or $14 at
the door. Please contact the
Singing Ambassadors Quartet or visit
their website for further details.

Alliance is pleased to announce the
addition of Keith Wix as our new
lead singer effective January 1,
2011. Keith was chosen from a
group of over 16 people who recently
auditioned for the part, and has
already been practicing and
traveling with the group for several
weeks. Keith has been
performing several songs with us at
our singings, and we plan to turn
over the position to him full time
by years end. Keith brings 15
years of singing experience to
Alliance, having spent all of that
time with what was essentially the
same group, the Heritage Quartet for
12 years, later re-organized under
the name Sacred Harvest.
Keith, his wife and two sons reside
in Hayden, Alabama, which is located
about 20 miles north of Birmingham
in Blount County. More
information can be found on Keith's
bio page. We welcome Keith on
board for what we expect will be a
long and rewarding relationship.

MARK CARLISLE
LEAVES
ALLIANCE |
Alliance announces that Mark Carlisle
will soon be leaving the group effective
January 2011. Mark will be joining Thomas
and Terri Hunter in the group "Image"
who recently decided to re-launch their
ministry for the first time since 1993.
Mark joined Alliance back in September
2009, and has been a blessing and a
true God-send to our group. Mark helped
establish Alliance as one of the premier
and most successful local quartets in
a very short period of time. As an added
benefit, the interest in our group Mark
helped generate has made the replacement
process much easier. We have had a tremendous
turnout of quality singers (from all
over the Southeast) to audition for
the lead part Mark is vacating, and
we feel we can maintain a similar quality
of sound such as we have enjoyed this
past year. Mark has been a joy to sing
with, and we will truly miss him. Mark
is the kind of member that is extremely
difficult to lose, and even harder to
replace. We hope to join forces with
Image and do several joint dates with
them in the upcoming future. We sincerely
wish Mark continued success, and we
look forward to continuing a great relationship
with both Mark and the Hunters. Please
pray for Image and Alliance as we go
thru this period of transition.

In memory
of Jerry Holman
We are deeply saddened by the recent
passing of Jerry Holman, who was
the baritone and manager of the
Joymen Quartet from 2006-2010. Jerry
passed away on September 13, after
a 9-month battle with cancer. I
was fortunate enough to have been
a fellow singer with Jerry from
2003-2005 while with Assurance.
In addition, Jerry helped fill in
for our group on several occasions
over the years, and always stepped
in and did a great job, in spite
of short notice. Jerry was viewed
as a legendary figure within the
local gospel singing community.
Jerry had a rich, full baritone
voice, and was one of the best stage
performers, and organizers I had
ever been around. He had a distinctive
voice and personality, and was a
down to earth, no non-sense, no
frills type of person. What you
saw was exactly what you got. Jerry
was a great teacher to many, including
myself. While singing with Jerry
in the group Assurance, he often
talked about a long time dream he
had to re-organize the Joymen, who
had been a predominant local group
throughout the 1960's and 70's.
Jerry saw this dream materialize
into reality in the spring of 2006,
and under his leadership, the Joymen
quickly regained their popularity
of the 1970's. I never saw anyone
who enjoyed singing more than Jerry,
and never was it more in evidence
than this year. Jerry literally
sang until his body would allow
him to sing no more. Local Gospel
music will never be the same, as
a tremendous void has been left
with his passing. Please continue
to pray for Jerry's family as they
attempt to cope with this great
loss. We have all truly lost a great
friend.
