Jeff began singing Gospel music in 1997 at
the age of 35 with an a capella group called
the Harmony 4. In 2000, he joined the
group New Vision. Jeff left New Vision
in 2002 to sing with the Regents Quartet,
and later with Millie Bonham and Assurance.
He returned to New Vision in 2005, and soon after, Jeff and three of it's members left
to organize the |

group
Alliance in early 2006. Jeff serves as the
group treasurer and bus driver, in addition
to singing the bass part.
Jeff comes from a family rich in singing
talent and tradition. Jeff's grandfather,
Ernest Smith, was a great bass singer, and
his grandmother, Myrtle Smith, a great alto
singer. Jeff's father Jimmy Smith, and Uncle
Don Smith were part of Madison County High F.F.A. quartet during the late 1950's,
winning talent competitions in Biloxi, MS
and earning National recognition in Boston,
MA in 1958. Jeff grew up attending Gospel
Singings, and always admired the great bass
singers in Gospel. Probably the greatest
single influence was the talents of Richard Sturbin, Rex Nelon and George Younce. Jeff
lives in Grant, Alabama.
